Also referred to as Court Services throughout the state, Lake County offers both an Adult and Juvenile Probation Services Division dependent upon the age of client and the findings of the Court.

The Division of Adult Probation Services supports the mission of the Court by serving the Court and reducing offender recidivism in a manner that enhances the fairness and integrity of the Court’s decisions, promotes accountability and responsiveness in its enforcement of the Court’s orders, and advances public trust and confidence in the justice system.

Adult Probation Services is responsible to the Court for investigating and supervising offenders and alleged offenders. The Division of Adult Probation Services is comprised of a Division Director, a small administrative staff and nine main units: DUI, Domestic Violence, Intensive Probation, Public Service, Pretrial, Presentence Investigations, Standard Probation, Sex Offender and Surveillance Units. In addition, specialized services and programs such as the COG, Early Termination, Gender-Specific caseloads, Group Reporting, Therapeutic Intensive Monitoring Court, and the Volunteer Probation Support Program are also important functions of the Division.

Juvenile Probation & Detention Services

The mission of the Division of Juvenile Probation and Detention Services is to support a juvenile justice system that ensures public protection from further acts of juvenile delinquency, and assists in the accountability and rehabilitative needs of youthful offenders. In addition to these principals, the parents/guardians of minors are key elements for assisting in the change process for a youth. The Juvenile Court Act requires the participation and compliance of parents whose children are before the juvenile court.

The Division of Juvenile Probation and Secure Detention Services is comprised of a small administrative staff and four main units: Juvenile Intake/Home Detention, Probation, Secure Detention and the FACE-IT residential treatment program. In addition, specialized services and programs such as the Victim Assistance and Restitution, and Public Service are also important functions of the Division.
