Law Merit Badge Seminar |
Following the requirements of the Law Merit Badge booklet, the judges and staff address the differences between civil and criminal laws; the origin of law; the development of the jury system; the Justinian Code and the Magna Carta; and famous trials in history. Actual judges preside over a mock trial with the Scouts serving as members of the jury. A guided tour of the Lake County Jail, Morgue and Courthouse normally round out the day. Lunch is provided from the $5.00 fee. Vending is available.
WHEN: Saturday, January 26, 2013
(Normally held on a Saturday in late January or early February)
TIME: 8:15 A.M. - 3:45 P.M.
WHO: Registration is limited to 75 Scouts
COST: $5.00 (Payable by cash on Program Day)
REQUIREMENTS: The following requirements must be completed prior to the event:
- Read the LAW Merit Badge Booklet – 2007 EDITION (33215)
- Bring a completed BLUE Merit Badge Card to class – Must be signed by your Scoutmaster
- Must be a 1ST Class Scout or higher prior to the event
LOCATION: Lake County Courthouse, 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, IL
PARKING: Parking is available in the lot on the northwest corner of the intersection of Washington Street and Martin Luther King Jr Avenue.
ENTRANCE: Enter at the Washington Street entrance (East of Martin Luther King Jr Avenue) - Look for the signs!
