About the Seminar
requirements of the Law Merit Badge booklet, the judges and staff
address the differences between civil and criminal laws, the origin of
law, the development of the jury system, the Justinian Code and the
Magna Carta, and famous trials in history. Actual judges preside over a
mock trial with the Scouts serving as members of the jury. A guided tour
of the Lake County Jail, Morgue and Courthouse normally round out the
day. Lunch is provided from the $6 fee. Vending is available.
When: Saturday, February 18, 2017 (Normally held on a Saturday in late January or early February) (Please note date change from earlier posting.)
Time: 8:15 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Who: Registration is limited to 75 Scouts
Cost: $6 (Payable by cash on Program Day)
Location: Lake County Courthouse, 18 N County Street, Waukegan
Parking: Free Parking in the Garage located on the North Side of the Courthouse will be open.
Entrance: Entrance through the Main Entrance located off the Parking Garage. - Look for the signs!
The following requirements must be completed prior to the event:
Read the Law Merit Badge Booklet – 2013 Edition
Bring a completed Blue Merit Badge Card to class – Must be signed by your Scoutmaster
Must be a 1st Class Scout or higher prior to the event
